Shoppers visiting the Morrisons supermarket in Caernarfon tomorrow (Wednesday) will be able to have their say on how their community should be policed.
‘Balance your Bobbies’ is an interactive scheme – launched at the National Eisteddfod in Bala last year by the force and the Police Authority, whereby people can indicate which issues they would like the police to concentrate on in their area.
Members of the local Neighbourhood Policing Team along with partner agencies will be available at the Morrisons car park tomorrow, Wednesday, 17th February between 10am 4pm.
PCSO Annette Jones said: “This is a good opportunity for the local residents to tell us what they would like the police to focus on in the area. Neighbourhood issues vary from area to area – and they can be anything from anti-social behaviour to graffiti or speeding vehicles to higher profile crimes such as drug dealing.”
Other organisations will also be taking part on the day such as the Arson Reduction Team, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Youth Offending Team, Victim Support, Trading Standards and Women’s Aid.
PCSO Jones added: “This is also an opportunity for members of the public to come to the Morrisons car park to talk to the various agencies, who will be available for advice and guidance on any issues of concern.”
Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Stephen Williams said: “Close engagement with the community is key to making people feel reassured and that we are listening to them.
“If you are in the area tomorrow I encourage you to come and visit the team.”
Results for the ‘Balance your Bobbies’ from the day will be collated and counted and the local inspector will get a report revealing how many people voted, what the local average is and how statistically significant it is.
