Plans for the future regeneration of Pencoed have gone on show at a series of public consultation events.
An exhibition will be available at Pencoed Welfare Hall on Friday 29 (2pm-7pm) and Saturday 30 (10am-2pm) October before moving to Pencoed Library until Friday 3 December. The strategy and action plan will also be available to view online at www.bridgend.gov.uk/pencoedregeneration
Classed within headings such as social and community, movement, the environment and economic and commercial, a total of 18 projects have been identified which seek to boost the local economy, stimulate growth, develop new and existing facilities and improve the quality of life for local people.
A great deal of consultation has already taken place with local organisations and businesses as Bridgend County Borough Council and Pencoed Town Council work in partnership to deliver a regeneration strategy and action plan for the area.
Following a series of exhibitions and consultation with the likes of local members, town councillors, PACT, Pencoed Comprehensive, Bridgend College, Pencoed Welfare Hall, Bridgend Youth Service, local businesses and the Bridgend Local Service Board, the plans have now reached a stage where they are ready to enter a six week formal public consultation period.
Council Leader Mel Nott said: “This consultation will set out the vision for the regeneration of Pencoed and provide details about the 18 projects which have been identified to allow the strategy to achieve its aims.
“Public involvement in the regeneration process will be an integral part of ensuring the long-term success of the strategy, so I would urge local residents to come to one of the sessions or view the plans online and give us their thoughts.”
