Healthy lessons for teachers

Teachers from primary schools across the County took part in a health and fitness training day recently.

Organised by the Pembrokeshire Healthy School Scheme, the day was aimed at training teachers about a new teaching resource – Health Matters.

Health Matters is part of a national drive to promote physical activity and healthy eating in schools and supports learning across the curriculum.

The author of the health and fitness resource, Vicky Bowen, led the day’s training, which was held over three days at Prendergast, Puncheston and Pembroke Dock primary schools.

Teachers were able to watch children from three to 11 in action and also take part in the fun and friendly activities.

Funding for Health Matters is provided by Health Challenge Pembrokeshire with additional funding from Community Focused Schools and the Healthy School Scheme.
