Help for the homeless

Preseli Pembrokeshire AM Paul Davies AM is pictured with Libby Burn from Pembrokeshire Care Society (PCS) on Homelessness Sunday outside Morrison’s supermarket in Haverfordwest.

The event resulted in three trolleys of food being collected for the homeless in the county.

“We would like to thank everyone who gave their time, energy and assistance into making the collection one of the best ever,” said Jane Potter, debt advice co-ordinator for PCS.

“We will distribute the food with assistance of Pembrokeshire Action To Combat Hardship (PATCH). The foodpacks will be given to assist both homeless single people and families who are or may be threatened with homelessness within the county of Pembrokeshire.”

Mr Davies said: “I was delighted to support Pembrokeshire Care Society in highlighting the problem of homelessness in the county. Because we are so rural and don’t see people living on the streets, I think it is easy to make the mistake of thinking homelessness is not a big issue here but PCS has brought home just how grave and hidden this problem can be.”

Ms Potter added: “Donations were made from people of all walks of life, from young to old, some donated a tin or packet whilst others gave bags of food. It was a pleasure to see how generous the people of Pembrokeshire can be even in this economic climate.”
