Highway works suspended for Armistice Day

Monmouthshire County Council is to suspend all highway and public utility works on Armistice Day – Sunday, 14th November – as a mark of respect.  The embargo will ensure that any services of remembrance remain undisturbed by the potential noise of machinery.

The county’s Highways Network Manager, Mike Jones said; “We have placed a works embargo on Armistice Day so that remembrance parades can take place without disruption.  We will also be placing a similar embargo from Thursday 25th November 2010 to Monday 3rd January 2011, so that Christmas shopping can take place with out disruption.  Please note we cannot stop any emergency works from taking place.”
