Home safety fairs in Llangefni and Holyhead

Special fairs to promote home safety are being held on Anglesey this week.

Organised by the Isle of Anglesey County Council and its partners – including North Wales Police and the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, the Home Safety Fairs give residents the opportunity to access advice about crime prevention, fire safety, energy efficiency, pensions, road safety and any issues that are of concern.

They also offer members of the public, particularly older people over 65, a convenient ‘One Stop Shop’ for information and advice how to keep well, warm and safe during the winter months.

The fairs are being held in Plas Arthur, Llangefni on Thursday, November 4th and at the Gwelfor Centre, Holyhead on Friday, November 5th.

PCSO Norman Hughes from North Wales Police who works in the Anglesey and Gwynedd Community Safety Team said: “The fairs are an excellent opportunity for us to give out information such as crime prevention tips, securing your home and being aware of cold callers and rogue traders.

“The fair being held today at Llangefni has also been a great opportunity for us to speak to some of the schoolchildren who have attended. We’ve talked to them about firework safety and keeping safe on the internet. We have also been promoting 101 – the non-emergency line for calling the police in Wales.

He added: “This has been an excellent day for engagement with the public and it’s great to see the various agencies working together to help safeguard the local residents.”

If you would like to speak to a member of your Neighbourhood Policing Team about crime prevention advice or about any concerns you may have, please dial 101.
