Homes maintenance moves to housing association

Grounds maintenance responsibilities for 8,000 homes in Torfaen have been transferred from the local council to Bron Afon Community Housing.

From April 1 Bron Afon is responsible for cleansing, grounds maintenance, playground maintenance, trees and hard surfaces on its land, including litter picking, dog fouling and grass and hedge cutting.

Torfaen Council will still deliver these services for more than 30,000 homes on land not owned by Bron Afon.

The Council will also continue to maintain grass verges along all roads and footways on Bron Afon land and all publicly-owned land.

And highway maintenance, street lighting and refuse collection will still be the responsibility of the Council.

The transfer of services, which was approved by the local authority’s Cabinet, has seen 19 Council employees and equipment transferred over to Bron Afon.
