How clean are our streets?

An independent cleansing inspection has reported that Conwy County Borough was the cleanest area in Wales.

Keep Wales Tidy inspect every county in the country twice a year, visiting town centres, residential areas, car parks, recreation areas, parks and industrial areas.

In their latest report published this week, Conwy tops the table with a total cleanliness score of 72.5; up 5 points on last year and significantly higher than the Wales average of 66.87.

Lyn Davies, Conwy’s Street Scene Manager said, “Cleansing work can be perceived as thankless but its importance to residents cannot be overemphasised. The improvement that pleases me most is the town centre cleanliness which has risen by 8% on last year’s figure.”

Cllr Mike Priestley, Cabinet Member for Environment said, “I’m delighted that Conwy has performed so well in this survey.  I’d like to thank the Street Scene team for all their hard work, and also residents and visitors for disposing of their litter responsibly.  It’s working together that has achieved these results.”
