How to remove rogue Facebook Applications

OK, I know this has nothing directly to do with Wales but many of  our readers have been having problems with Facebook today.

If you see a friends status saying something like “Amazing! see who is viewing your profile!” BEWARE!

Facebook does not share this sort of information and many of the so-called applications which claim to do this sort of thing are malware – malicious programs.

To remove them, and I warn you, it can be tricky, the best approach is to log on to Facebook on your normal desktop machine.

Click on the ‘Account’ drop-down menu, toward the top right and select ‘Privacy Settings from the drop-down menu.

At the bottom left of the page you will see an ‘Applications and websites’ section. Click on the ‘Edit your settings’ link below this and you will see a list of your Applications. To remove an application click on the X on the far right after the application name. and a dialogue box will appear

Note: In the example shown above all the applications are legitimate applications.

Click ‘REMOVE’ to delete the application.

Take some time to review the other applications that are listed and remove those you have not used for a while.

I hope this is of use to some of you and please use the comments section below if you have any questions
