More than 700 people have registered to run in this year’s Nos Galan Races – and it’s not too late for you to take part.
The annual 5km races held in Mountain Ash town centre on New Year’s Eve have competitions for elite runners and also for adults, boys and girls. Postal entries are now closed – so if you wish to take part, please register online at www.nosgalan.co.uk before 12pm on Wednesday, December 30, 2009.
Andrew Morgan of the Nos Galan committee, which organises the event, said: “We are delighted that so many people have already signed up to take part and hope even more runners and many spectators will join us on the night.”
The Races attracted almost 10,000 people to the town centre last year. A free park and ride service will operate again this year for people travelling to Mountain Ash for the Races – please follow the directional parking signs. A 40-seater shuttle bus will run every 10-15 minutes from Mountain Ash Comprehensive school to the Town Hall from 3.30pm until 9pm.
Anyone travelling to the event is urged to use this free service at the school site, due to restricted parking in the town centre.
Mountain Ash Comprehensive School is about one mile north of Mountain Ash in New Road on the A4059. Please follow the AA signs on the A4059 to the parking area. Please note that the parking area will be staffed by security staff and Nos Galan stewards.
The race organisers will endeavour to accommodate late entries on the night of the event, however, due to high volumes of entrants to date, this cannot be guaranteed – so please don’t take the risk – register now!
