Ice forces temporary speed limit on A48

The Vale of Glamorgan Council would like to advise residents and visitors to the area that a temporary 30mph speed restriction has been introduced on the viaduct section of the A48.

This is being done to protect motorists from the effects of ice which has been forming on the expansion joints of the recently refurbished structure. During the recent cold snap it has been noted that ice is forming even after this section of the highway has been treated with salt.

Council officers are currently in discussions with the designers responsible for the works and are seeking to resolve this problem as soon as possible. The temporary speed limit will be reviewed on Monday. The council would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
