Industrial action –Information from Denbighshire County Council

Denbighshire County Council is providing the following information regarding the proposed industrial action due to take place by the trade unions on Wednesday, November 30.

Council buildings:
It is intended that Brighton Road Offices in Rhyl and County Offices in Ruthin will be open to the public on Wednesday for urgent enquiries only, but will not be able to deliver the full range of services.

Customer Service Centre:
The Council’s main Customer Service Centre will also be open, but with a reduced number of staff available to take calls.

Refuse and recycling:
Green wheelie bins will NOT be collected on Wednesday 30 November.  The next collection will be two weeks later.

Residents are advised to put-out their waste/recycling/food waste caddies on the normal day – however the collections on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday may be running one day late.

Libraries:
Llangollen, Ruthin, Denbigh, St Asaph, Rhyl and Corwen libraries – closed.
Rhuddlan- Open

Leisure Centres:
Corwen and Prestatyn – closed
Denbigh, Rhyl and St Asaph – open.
Ruthin and Llangollen (only open in the evening)

(Ysgol Trefnant will be open to the nursery and reception class, as well as Years 1 and 2).

Mohammed Mehmet, Denbighshire’s Chief Executive, said: “It is difficult to predict exactly how the industrial action will affect services.

“However, the Council is in negotiations with the trade unions to agree exemptions from the strike, where there is a real need for some staff to work to deliver a vital service to those most vulnerable clients or general public or to deal with emergency cases.

“We have put contingency plans in place to ensure that we continue to offer as many services as we can, minimising disruption wherever possible.

“As we are expecting to have fewer staff working on the day, we would kindly ask people only to contact the Council if their enquiry is urgent or cannot wait until the following day”.
