Welsh Conservatives today welcomed the launch of an inquiry into access to public transport for disabled people in Wales by the Assembly’s Equality of Opportunity Committee.
Commenting on the launch Committee member and Shadow Minister for Equalities, Mohammad Asghar, said, “I am delighted to welcome this necessary and timely inquiry into the accessibility of public transport for disabled people in Wales.
“As a society we need to be making it as easy as possible for everyone to access public transport as a means of reducing congestion and helping the environment. It is only right that disabled people should have the opportunity to make their contribution if they so choose by travelling in a more sustainable manner.
“Accessing public transport can also be an important means of coping with a disability and leading a normal fulfilling life.
“I would encourage people from across Wales to make their views known in this important debate about how we can make transport more accessible for disabled people in Wales.”
