Irish veterans make a beeline for the Garden

Thursday will be a ‘vintage’ day at the National Botanic Garden of Wales with the visit of some classic cars – from Ireland.

Members of the Irish Veteran and Vintage Car Club are on a tour of West Wales this week and will be calling in at the Garden for a visit and to display their vehicles.

Organiser Henry Noonan said members had enjoyed the visit to Carmarthenshire last April so much that they wanted to return. He said: “There will be 22 cars. With the poor weather forecast, a few older car drivers have opted to bring 60s and 70s cars rather than from the 1920s but we will still have a very interesting collection.

“The earliest car is a 1917 Dodge Brothers Touring Car which I will be driving and the next will be a 1929 Chevrolet and from there up to a 1973 MGB.”

The ‘rally’ is expected at the Garden at about 2.30pm on Thursday April 26.
