Et Viola – a group of fashion students at Coleg Gwent’s Crosskeys Campus – will see their designs take to the catwalk this week at what is being billed as ‘the ultimate student rock and rave event’ – RockRave – on Friday 26 November from 7pm.
Models will parade the catwalk donning six of the students’ designs which are inspired by the theme of ‘recycled skirts’ – made from recycled materials – alongside an amazing line up of bands including Flow Dem, Tiny Skitz featuring Dirty Hoods and Tom Richards of X Factor fame.
As well as promoting, dressing and styling the models, the students will be fundraising by selling their own handmade bracelets. The event, which is organised by Urban Circle, who promote and sustain constructive community relationships for young people living in Newport, across a variety of performing arts and creative media.
Lecturer Sam Reeve says: “This is a great opportunity for fashion students to gain valuable hands-on experience of work and the demands of fashion events. It enables the students to participate in modelling, styling, promotion, dressing, photography shoots and designing. It’s a real live work experience which is proving invaluable for job finding, university personal statements, CVs and promoting their own creative talents.”
