Johnstown attempted robbery update

Police appealing for information to track down a man who tried to rob a village shop say he has a distinctive tattoo on his back.

The attempted robbery took place at The Shop in The High Street, Johnstown near Wrexham at 6.55pm on Thursday September 2.

The offender, who was armed with a knife, was tackled outside the store by two passers by, which resulted in one of them receiving laceration wounds to his head.

During the struggle the offender’s top was pulled up around his head revealing a blue ink tattoo 20cm x 20cm of a floral design similar to the “Welsh Feathers “in the middle of his back.

The man made off on foot down Merlyn Street, Johnstown and is described as being white, with a tanned complexion and of athletic build, about 6 feet tall and aged between 20 and 30.

He was wearing a black balaclava, black top, blue tracksuit trousers with a white stripe and black trainers.
