Clwyd West MP, David Jones, has welcomed the announcement by shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, that the next Conservative government will scrap Labour proposals to abolish tax relief on furnished holiday lets (FHL).
David Jones said:
“Labour’s plans to abolish tax relief on furnished holiday lets will have a very detrimental effect on the North Wales tourist industry. They will also deter people from entering the letting sector and make it more difficult for property owners to maintain the condition of their properties.
“The tourist industry is very important to the economy of North Wales. Scrapping tax relief on furnished holiday lets was a bad decision that will, if implemented, damage local businesses and cost local jobs.
“George Osborne’s announcement will therefore be warmly welcomed by the tourist industry in our part of the world.”
