Justice Seen, Justice Done in Caerphilly county borough

JusticeThe Home Office have launched the latest phase of their ‘Justice Seen, Justice Done’ campaign recently, which aims to increase awareness among members of the public of what they can expect from their local services, including the police and council.

In 60 Neighbourhood Crime and Justice Pioneer Areas of which Caerphilly county borough is included, a leaflet is being delivered to every household.

The leaflet outlines the public’s rights on crime and justice and provides local contacts for police, anti-social behaviour coordinators, victim and witness services and how to nominate Community Payback projects as well as what their role might be, and how to complain.

Cllr Lyn Ackerman, cabinet member for the environment said, “The next phase of the Justice Seen Justice Done campaign is excellent in that it helps inform our residents of the levels of service they can expect to receive from the council and police in terms of addressing anti-social behaviour and crime issues.

By detailing these levels of service through the door-to-door leaflet, we hope that this will give people the confidence to come forward and report instances of anti-social behaviour and crime to us, in the knowledge that we are on your side and are keen to continue to work with our partners to ensure that Caerphilly county borough remains a very safe place to live.”

As part of this campaign, there have also been TV, radio, press and online advertisements focusing on the Policing Pledge – a set of promises made by all of the police forces in England and Wales. These promises focus on supporting law abiding citizens and ensuring that local communities have a voice – guaranteeing that wherever someone lives they can expect a minimum level of service.

The campaign also promotes a newly developed a crime and justice area of the direct.gov website as a key way for people to access information about police, crime, justice and anti-social behaviour services, including the details of their local neighbourhood policing team, crime maps and services for victims and witnesses.

For the first time this information will be in one place and accessed simply by entering a postcode.
