Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is pleased to announce its schedule of Christmas events to help you kick off your Christmas festivities in style, right here in your hometown.
Father Christmas will be visiting the children of Merthyr Tydfil not once, but twice this year in the run-up to the festive season!
On Saturday 27th November and Saturday 18th December, Santa, his elves and two of his favourite reindeer will visit the Café Quarter at the lower end of high street between 10am and 4pm. Each child will receive a gift, while stocks last and there will be the opportunity to have your photo taken with Santa and his gang! Tickets cost just £3 and are available on the day.
On Saturday 11th December, come and visit our Ski Slope, which will be located at Lower High Street. A ride will cost just £1.
After the success of the last couple of years and as a goodwill gesture to all its customers, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council has again decided to waive parking charges in its off street car parks on the approach to Christmas. As a result, all public pay and display car parks in the town centre will be free throughout the day on Saturday 11th and Saturday 18th December.

- Friday 19th November – Christmas Lighting Ceremony and Procession of Light from 5:00pm at the Civic Centre Forecourt
- Saturday 27th November – Father Christmas & His Reindeer and Local Craft Market from 10am – 4pm at Lower High Street
- Merthyr Tydfil Street Market – Every Tuesday and Saturday, 9am – 5:00pm, High Street
- Friday 3rd December – Farmer’s Market, 10am – 2pm at Lower High Street
- Saturday 11th December – Ski Slope, 10am – 4pm at Lower High Street, plus FREE Christmas shopping car parking
- Saturday 18th December – Father Christmas & His Reindeer and Local Farmer’s Market, 10am – 4pm at Lower High Street, plus FREE Christmas shopping car parking
