Kite surfer gets into difficulty at Kinmel Bay

At 5.15pm yesterday, the Rhyl Inshore Lifeboat was launched to a kite-surfer, caught in his lines, about 500m out from Kinmel Bay.

He had been in the water for about 20 minutes, and both the ILB and coastguard teams proceeded. As the crew neared the scene, the surfer had been blown near enough to the shore for his colleagues to affect a rescue, and he was ashore when the Lifeboat crew arrived. The local coastguard team checked him out, but apart from being very tired, he was OK. The crew returned to station at 1802.
