Oriel Ynys Môn presents its latest exhibition of works by Sir Kyffin Williams – ‘Unseen Work.’
The exhibition will start on July 24 until January 23, 2011. It will be officially opened on Friday evening July 23 by His Honour Judge Michael Farmer Q.C., D.L.
Sir Kyffin Williams was a passionate advocate for the arts on Anglesey and was an active and enthusiastic supporter of the work of Oriel Ynys Môn since its opening in 1991.
Kyffin Williams generously donated over 400 original works of art and sculpture to Oriel Ynys Môn, ranging from sketches to drawings to major oils.
This exhibition comprises some of those works given to the Oriel by Kyffin Williams along with works held in private collections from all over Wales and beyond.
The exhibition includes works on paper and on canvas and vary in subject from landscapes and seascapes to portraits.
“This is a unique opportunity to see paintings from the Oriel’s collection and especially work held in private collections that have never before been exhibited together as part of an exhibition”, said Pat West, Principal Officer – Museums, Culture and Archives, Isle of Anglesey County Council.
Economic Development, Tourism and Leisure Portfolio Holder, Cllr Bob Parry OBE said, “Oriel Ynys Môn is privileged to be able to stage such a unique exhibition – we are extremely grateful to those who have loaned works by Kyffin Williams“.
