Commenting on today’s NHS waiting times figures, Shadow Health Minister Andrew RT Davies AM said:
“Any increase in waiting times is worrying. Given that so much effort is being put into eradicating the 26-week waiting time by December 31 the increase in these figures indicate that we could see greater pressures on access to healthcare.
“Now that reform is complete, the minister must ensure that in an era of limited resources this is targeted where it is most effective rather than padding out bureaucracy.
“These figures can only get worse given the bad weather in recent weeks. They also question the direction of the NHS under this government if people are failing to access the treatment they require.
“Overall waiting lists have now risen for seven months in a row. Rather than tackling this problem, Labour and Plaid Cymru policies are making it worse.”
