Learner’s Showcase

A free exhibition showcasing the work of talented learners in Cardiff takes place next week.

Cardiff Council’s Neighbourhood Learning exhibition opens on Saturday November 27, displaying the work of learners from across the city who have taken part in a wide range of day and evening courses available for adults this year.

The colourful exhibition, in the Old Library at The Hayes, includes paintings, stained glass, pottery, wood carving, textiles and sugar craft.

Visitors to the exhibition, which runs until Tuesday December 7, will be inspired by the high standard of the exhibits and have the opportunity to try some taster sessions. Free lunchtime activities (12.30pm to 1.30pm) include crafts on November 29, singing on November 30, drawing on December 1, hand and head de-stress techniques on December 2 and Tai Chi on December 3.

People can also have their say on Adult Learning in Cardiff at a special forum on Thursday December 2 (sessions at 1.30 to 2.30pm and 7pm to 8pm). Feedback gathered will be used to shape future provision.

Executive Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, Cllr Freda Salway, said: “The Neighbourhood Learning exhibition is an opportunity for learners to showcase their work to friends, family and the wider public and be extremely proud of their achievements. The quality of work on display in previous years has been tremendous and I’m sure this year will be no different.”

The exhibition is open from 10am to 4pm (7pm Thursdays) from November 27 to December 7.
