Former Swansea City footballer and Club Ambassador, Lee Trundle, visited the National Eisteddfod in Llanelli yesterday (Tuesday, 5 August), and managed to beat the Archdruid 3 – 1 in a game of table football at Swansea University’s stand.

Building on their partnership with Swansea City FC, Lee Trundle signed autographs for fans and played table football with visitors at the University’s stand, before touring the Maes with the club mascot, Cyril the Swan.

The Archdruid, Christine James, who is a Welsh Professor in Academi Hywel Teifi at Swansea University, promptly joined the former Swans player for a game of table football, losing 3 – 1.

“She says that i let her score one goal, but I didn’t! She played well and it was a fair result”, said Lee.

Lee also took the opportunity to join the Materials Live! team from Swansea University as they printed various objects using a 3D printer – including a plastic football especially for him.

Gwenno Ffrancon, Director of Academi Hywel Teifi, said: “Swansea University was very pleased to welcome Lee Trundle to the Maes. Lee and Cyril the Swan brought some local colour and Premiere League style to the Eisteddfod.

“We hope Lee enjoyed his visit to the Maes and the chance to learn a few more Welsh words – and to experience the best of Welsh-language culture. Bendigedig! (fantastic)”.
