Welsh literature lovers are invited to board a coach for a road-trip from the Ogwen Valley to Llŷn, organised by the Gwynedd Arts Forum on Saturday, 24 September.
The three winners of the main prizes at this year’s Urdd National Eisteddfod – Elin Gwyn, winner of the drama medal; Llyr Gwyn Lewis, winner of the chair and crown winner Llyr Titus – will be taking part in the trip and will be reading their work. The day will be led by the poet and author Karen Owen.
The journey will start at Bethesda and finish at Llithfaen, before returning to the Ogwen Valley.
There is also the offer of an package deal of going on the trip, having an evening meal and then seeing a performance of Theatr Bara Caws’ club show Un Fach Flewog.
Gwen Lasarus, Gwynedd Literature Promoter, said: “This bus trip is set to be a very interesting day. It is an opportunity to meet like-minded people and of course to listen to the young poets and writers discuss their work.
“The aim of the day is to introduce some of the most promising young writers from the area to a wider audience, and is a chance to get a feel for the places which have inspired them.
“There is a warm welcome to anyone interested in literature to join us for the day, and the activity is suitable for Welsh learners.”
Itinerary
2.30pm – Coach leaves Bethesda, meeting point is the Spar shop (cars can be left at Bethesda Rugby Club car park)
2.55pm – Llyr Gwyn Lewis boards the bus at Caernarfon
3.40pm – Llyr Titus joins the party at Pwllheli
4pm – Tea, cake and chat at Y Daflod, Tafarn y Fic, Llithfaen
5.30pm – Leave Llithfaen
6.30pm – Arrive back at Bethesda
The day’s events cost £10, or £20 for the trip, evening meal and ticket to the show.
