Local fundraisers back Horton and Port Eynon lifeboat

On Saturday the Highfield Fundraisers and supporters presented a £3,621.71 cheque to the RNLI Horton & Port Eynon lifeboat station.

The presentation, which took place at the Ship Inn Port Eynon, was presented to Peter Muxworthy, the stations Lifeboat Operations Manager, by members of the Highfield Fundraisers.

Highfield Fundraisers over the course of a year raised this magnificent total by organising many events including hairy chest waxing, sandcastle competitions, quiz night, raft race, bingo, barbecue, tug of war, lotto and others. This shows a significant commitment by the fundraisers to organize and run all these events, which paid off by raising the substantial amount of monies.

The RNLI at Horton & Port Eynon lifeboat station would to like to express their sincere gratitude to Highfield Fundraisers and their supporters for this donation, the largest fundraising amount ever raised for the station.

The RNLI is independent of Coastguard and Government relying on voluntary donations and legacies to maintain its rescue service. Since the charity was founded in 1824 its lifeboat crews and lifeguards have saved over 137,000 lives. The RNLI is a charity registered in England, Scotland and the Republic of Ireland.
