Looking for green local heroes

Love Where You Live – the exciting Rhondda Cynon Taf Council environmental awards – has extended its deadline for nominations.

For the second consecutive year Rhondda Cynon Taf Council is welcoming nominations from the public to highlight the green-themed work being undertaken in the community on a wide range of environmental projects.

A new deadline has been set for April 23rd 2010 to accommodate the organizations, businesses and schools that are not open during the Easter holiday.

The scheme rewards individuals, businesses, schools or local communities throughout the county borough that have introduced positive, inspiring and beneficial changes to the environment.

If individuals know of anyone that they feel deserves an award, then they can enter them for the competition .

There are 13 categories for the competition and there is no limit on the amount of different categories each applicant enters.

• Most Innovative Environmental Project

• Best School Environmental Initiative

• Best Community Project

• Best Environmental Partnership Initiative

• Best Environmental Service Team of the Year

• School Environmental Champion (Pupil)

• School Environmental Champion (Teacher)

• The Envirovision Song Quest Champion

• Local Authority Environmental Champion

• Business Award

• Best Kept Community

• People Award

Entering the Love Where You Live Awards can be done simply by filling in a short entry. Applications will be placed before an independent panel of judges. The chosen finalists will be visited during May before the overall winner of each category is decided.

The awards will be presented at a ceremony to be held at the Muni Arts Centre, Pontypridd on Monday June 14th 2010.
