Make Halloween and Bonfire Night Safer

Conwy & Denbighshire Community Safety Partnership is urging everyone to make Halloween and Bonfire Night safer this year.

No-one wants to spoil Bonfire Night fun for youngsters, but everyone should be aware of the dangers so that we can all enjoy the events in safety.

Have fun but stay safe

1. Make sure younger children are accompanied by a responsible adult.

2. Be aware of the feelings of others and show respect

3. Make sure you know where your children are going and what time they are due home.

4. No fireworks – leave them for bonfire night!

5. When trick or treating look out for the poster in the window showing whether callers are welcome or not.

Trick or Treat
During the run up to Halloween the Community Safety Partnership approaches retailers to ask them not to sell eggs and flour to teenagers. Posters are available for residents to display whether or not they want trick-or-treaters to visit. For a copy of the poster email [email protected] or ring (01492) 575701

Fireworks
Retailers must submit an application to the Council for permission to store and sell fireworks and premises are inspected to make sure retailers are adhering to the standards. After 10th November all retailers must stop selling fireworks and store them correctly.

Bonfires
Every year, in the days leading up to the 5th November, communities are plagued by unwanted, unauthorised and dangerous bonfires. To increase safety around Bonfire Night Conwy Community Safety Partnership is running a special campaign to dismantle and remove all unauthorised bonfires on public land.

No-one wants to spoil Bonfire Night fun for youngsters, but everyone should be aware of the dangers and cost associated with lighting bonfires illegally. Residents can report unauthorised bonfires by phoning (01492) 575701 or by emailing [email protected]
