Making a positive difference – Flintshire’s Children & Young People’s Plan Launched

Flintshire’s Children and Young People’s Plan 2011 – 2014, entitled ‘Making a Positive Difference’, has been launched.

The Plan sets out priority areas and records what work needs to be done, and by whom, to achieve improved outcomes for children, young people and families in Flintshire. It has been developed through an extensive and inclusive process of dialogue and consultation with all relevant agencies, and with direct input from children, young people and families themselves.

The Plan was launched by Flintshire’s Children and Young People’s Partnership (CYPP) at the 8th Connah’s Quay Festival, which took place recently. The event had been organised by Connah’s Quay Town Council and included a fun fair, Morris dancing competition, games with Cadbury’s Spots and Stripes, a car boot sale, stalls and refreshment vans.

The festival also saw the return of the Young Flintshire Youth Village with DJs, bands, dancing, information stands and activities for all the family. At the Youth Village, there was a further opportunity to add ideas and opinions which will help services plan for the future.

Ann Roberts from the Children and Young People’s Partnership said:

“We would like to thank everyone who supported the event. We worked with about 250 children, young people and families on the day to collect and collate views and input to the new CYPP Plan to inform the delivery of the actions.

“The opportunity to talk to whole families together in a relaxed atmosphere was the most useful and informative part of the day and we have taken suggestions and challenges from that process. We will also be sharing some of this feedback with other partnerships within Flintshire.”

Lisa Fearn, Connah’s Quay Town Centre Manager added:

“A big thank you to all who contributed to making the day such a great success.”
