Maltsters, Llandaff reopens

MalstersOne of Cardiff’s oldest licensed pubs has reopened following a major refurbishment. The Maltsters, in the heart of Llandaff Village, has been left virtually unrecognisable following the revamp.

New managers Ian and Andrew describe the new look pub as “jaw-droppingly attractive”. Ian explains: “No corners have been cut in delivering a really lovely, traditional British inn, compete with open fireplaces, exposed stone walls, wooden floors and chunky furniture.”

While the Maltsters has been transformed, owners Brains have been careful to retain a proper pub atmosphere. Philip Lay, retail director at Brains explains: “Pubs have undoubtedly changed in recent years and today customers expect a lot more from their local. But at the same time they still expect a pub to be a pub. We’ve worked hard to deliver a traditional and unpretentious British inn, serving great food and quality ale.”

The refurbishment also included the addition of five stylish and highly appointed bedrooms. Plasma TV’s in the bathroom offer extra indulgence, while an Apple media and entertainment system keeps things state of the art. In one of the rooms, you’ll even find a free-standing bath in the bedroom,
