Man charged following major search

A major police operation following reports of a child being taken on Thursday evening, has resulted in a man being charged. He will be appearing at Mold Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Deputy Chief Constable Ian Shannon said: “It must be stressed that this kind of incident is extremely rare, but when they happen they clearly have a significant impact and police must respond effectively and efficiently.

“The matter was reported to us early on Thursday evening and we mobilised the force – helicopter, dogs, uniformed officers and CID – and the child was found within a matter of hours. Within a few hours of the child being found a man was arrested. There is no evidence or information to suggest that any other person is at risk as a result of this incident.

“People can be assured that whenever there is a major incident or when there is someone at risk of harm we will do everything possible to bring the matter to a safe and quick resolution.”

There are no further details available at present.
