Man dies on motorbility scooter in Aberdare

A man has died after the motorbility scooter he was driving was involved in a collision with a motor car.

The collision took place at Cemetery Road, Aberdare at approximately 1200 Noon on Wednesday 22nd September 2010. The road was closed for some time as police carried out initial investigations.

The deceased was an 83 year old from the Aberdare area, who passed away at the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff after being airlifted by the Air Ambulance from the scene of the collision.

The other vehicle involved was a Renault Clio, the driver, a 19 year male from the Aberdare area, was arrested in connection with the collision, and after interview has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses, anyone who stopped to help or anyone who may have seen the vehicles being driven before the collision and who has not yet given their details to the police.
