Top class rugby League is coming to the Racecourse in January, and the Mayor of Wrexham, Cllr Arwel Gwynn Jones, was first in line to get a ticket for the big game.
Crusaders will be kicking off their campaign at the Racecourse Ground on Friday January 29th (Kick-off 8.00pm) when they take on current champions Leeds Rhinos in the Engage Super League.
Crusaders will be playing their first game in Wrexham following their move from South Wales. It is an exciting time for the team with their new coaching team in place, with former Bradford and Wigan coach Brian Noble taking the helm, with former dual code international Iestyn Harris as Assistant Coach.
It will also be an opportunity for the people of Wrexham to sample the fast-paced game of Rugby League and see some of the games top stars. Crusaders will field a number of Welsh internationals, including Wales captain Jordan James and try-scoring winger Anthony Blackwood, along with Aussie superstars like Lincoln Withers and new singings like young half-back Tommy Lee.
Leeds Rhinos are one of the most successful teams in Super League, having won the last three grand finals. Their super-star laden squad includes the likes of Great Britain Internationals Jamie Peacock, Rob Burrow, Danny Maguire and Keith Senior.
Mike Turner, Crusaders Chief Executive said:
“Rugby League is a fast-paced, exciting sport for all the family and I’m delighted that the Crusaders are coming to Wrexham.
