Primary school modernisation project update

Over the last 2 years Conwy County Borough Council has been carrying out an in-depth review of its Primary Education Service.

In September, the Council published an Areas for Review document, which set out for each primary school: the facilities currently available; the number of children in the school now and in the future; and how resources are distributed.

Over the past two months, stakeholder meetings have been held in communities where schools are identified for initial review.

In total, 17 meetings have taken place across the county borough to discuss the content of the Areas for Review document in detail, obtain views and invite suggested solutions.

Cllr Wyn Jones, Conwy’s Cabinet Member for Education said:

“We’d like to thank everyone that took the time to meet with us and get involved in this review. We’ve received valuable feedback that will be used to draw-up our strategy for modernising primary education in Conwy.”

The information collected at the stakeholder meetings will be collated and published online at www.conwy.gov.uk/education by the end of January.
