Scores of signed celebrity goodies and exclusive gifts went under the hammer this month to raise almost £3,500 for Rhondda Cynon Taf‘s Mayor’s Charity Appeal.
Mayor Cllr Robert Smith is overwhelmed at the generosity shown by those who donated gifts and also those who put their hands in their pockets to buy them at the Spring Charity Auction.
Every penny raised at the event will be donated to the Mayor’s Charity Appeal, which this year will benefit Help for Heroes, Macmillan Cancer Support and Diabetes UK (Cymru).
Lots that were snapped up included everything from a signed Joe Calzaaghe DVD and poster and Fair Trade Hampersto horse riding lessons, six nations tickets and a signed guitar from local heroes Lost Prophets.
All the lots went under the hammer at the Heritage Park Hotel in Trehafod on March 4 and raised a staggering £3,313 for the Mayor’s Charity Appeal.
The Lost Prophets guitar alone was sold for £250. Red Dragon FM DJs acted as auctioneers and comperes for the evening and entertainment was provided by Darren Edwards.
Mayor Cllr Robert Smith said: “I am overwhelmed at the generosity and support that has been shown to the Spring Auction.
“Thanks to the kindness of all those who donated gifts, services and facilities that enabled the event to take place, including the Heritage Park Hotel and its staff, the evening was a huge success.
“This was because we had such excellent lots in the first place and also because the good people of RCT and beyond came out in force and dug deep for charity at the auction.
“I would like to say a big thank you to all those who supported this event, especially those who gave their gifts and time free of charge to help.”
