Meirionnydd officers’ warning ahead of school holidays

Officers throughout Meirionnydd are warning youngsters that alcohol-related anti social behaviour will not be tolerated over the school holidays.

This is the message being given as part of an ongoing operation to tackle problems relating to under age drinking and youths causing a nuisance.

PC Dewi Wynne from the local Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Over the past few weeks and throughout the school holidays, officers will be out on patrol and seizing alcohol from underage youths.

“The majority of young people are model citizens but there are a minority that are not and our aim is to challenge those who are causing a nuisance and acting in an anti social manner.”

Officers will also continue to challenge anybody who supplies alcohol to anyone under the age of 18 and deal with them appropriately.

“We are working closely with Gwynedd Council to identify and prosecute retailer’s who sell to underage drinkers, and together, we are committed to tackling under age drinking and tackling anti social behaviour or other types of crime associated with under age drinking.”

Anyone caught selling alcohol to under age youngsters can face an £80 fixed penalty ticket.
