Merthyr Tydfil Local Education Authority (LEA) would like to confirm to parents/carers, students and teachers, that all public examinations scheduled for Friday, 15th January, 2010 will go ahead as planned.

With the inclement weather that we are currently experiencing in mind, a contingency plan has been put in place to ensure that the examinations are able to continue without disruption.

As a result of the inclement weather and in the interest of public safety, examinations to be sat by students from:

.                      • Afon Taf High School;

.                      • Bishop Hedley High School;

.                      • Cyfarthfa High School; and

.                      • Penydre High School

This temporary examination centre will be located at Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre, Merthyr Tydfil.

Please note: Only Bishop Hedley High School students who live in Merthyr Tydfil will sit their examinations in the Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre. Students attending this school from areas outside the County Borough (Blaenau Gwent and Rhondda Cynon Taf) will have been informed by the school of the location of their examination centre.

Students sitting a morning examination are required to be at the Leisure Centre by 8.30 am. in readiness for the 9.00 am examination.

For those sitting an afternoon examination, students will need to arrive at the Leisure Centre at 1.00 pm in readiness for the 1.30 pm examination.

Students are encouraged to make their own way to Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre.

Any students who normally rely on school transportation should continue to use the regular service to their respective school, where further arrangements have been made for transport to be provided to the examination centre.
