Montgomeryshire AM Mick Bates has been found guilty of public order offences and assault at Cardiff Magistrates Court today.
Liberal Democratic AM Mick Bates was involved in a dispute. While dining at Charleston’s Steakhouse in Cardiff on January 20th this year, Bates was asked to leave the restaurant and subsequently fell down the stairs and was injured. When help arrived at the scene he punched two paramedics and later a staff nurse.
Bates’ defence of suffering from a rare condition at the time which meant he was not aware or responsible for what he was doing was rejected by District Judge Bodfan Jenkins.
He is expected to be sentenced later today.
