Commenting on a new report by Action against Medical Accidents – which found every Welsh health board is failing to fully comply with safety alerts – Shadow Minister for Health, Darren Millar AM, said:
“This report makes for very troubling reading.
“Patients have a right to feel 100 per cent safe and comfortable in the hands of the NHS. Fully complying with safety alerts isn’t just important – it’s absolutely crucial. It’s extremely worrying that so many have not been implemented by the deadline.
“NHS staff work tirelessly across Wales but it is clear there are complications stifling further improvements to safety.
“The Welsh Labour Government – which continues to stubbornly slash the NHS budget – needs to put this issue at the top of the agenda.
“The Minister needs to meet with local health boards, root out the problems, and make sure safety alerts are taken seriously and properly complied with.
“Overcrowding and understaffing are clearly taking their toll on our health service.”
