Darren Millar AM has welcome a Christmas campaign to offer older people in Clwyd West companionship this Christmas.
Abbeyfield Abergele & District Society and Abbeyfield Wales Society in Ruthin are participating in a winter campaign to offer free lunches and an overnight stays to older people over the Christmas period. The ‘Companionship At Christmas’ campaign has been set up by Abbeyfield, a charity with over 700 houses accommodating approximately 7000 residents across the UK which aims to improve the quality of life for older people.
When asked to comment Darren Millar said:
“I warmly welcome this initiative which has my full support.
“By offering older people an alternative to spending the celebratory period alone, this campaign will make a real impact on combating loneliness this year.
“Its great that Abbeyfield Abergele & District Society and Abbeyfield Wales Society in Ruthin have decided to participate in this campaign which will make a real difference to older people in my constituency this Christmas.”
