Millar: Small businesses key to raising prosperity

Commenting on figures showing considerable variation in the Gross Value Added (GVA) rates across the regions of Wales, Darren Millar AM, Shadow Minister for the Economy, said:

“It is shameful that after twelve years of Labour rule in the Assembly, prosperity levels in some parts of Wales are as low as 63% of the UK average.

“Labour-Plaid has failed to take the measures necessary to empower local communities to deliver a more prosperous local economy.

“Welsh Conservatives would help boost prosperity across Wales by abolishing business rates for the majority of small businesses to help them expand and create new jobs.

“It is clear that having been consistently ranked the poorest region of the UK for twelve years under Labour, the stewardship of the Welsh economy needs a change.”
