Millar: Urgent action needed to ensure pedestrian safety

Clwyd West Assembly Member Darren Millar has called for action to improve safety on a busy road in Mochdre.

Cars regularly use the pavement to park on Mochdre High Street which is putting the safety of pedestrian at risk.

Responding to constituent’s concerns, Darren Millar arranged a site meeting with Conwy County Borough Council’s Highways Department and local Council representatives to see what could be done about the issue.

Speaking following the meeting Darren said:

‘I have been contacted by many local residents about this problem. It’s a disgrace that cars use the pavement to park in this way – its putting the safety of local shoppers and children getting to school at risk.

‘I called this a meeting to urge the Council to take urgent action to ensure the safety of pedestrians.

‘I’m pleased the Council have committed to look at schemes to improve safety. The situation has dragged on for too long – something must be done.’
