Millary: More to be done to crack down on fly-tipping

Commenting on figures released today showing that cleaning up illegal fly-tipping is costing Welsh councils £2.7 million per year, Shadow Minister for Local Government, Darren Millar AM, said:

“Illegal fly-tipping continues to cost Welsh taxpayers a small fortune and, with the public spending challenges ahead, it is essential that we see significant reductions in these costs in the future.

“We need tougher penalties for those found guilty of illegally dumping waste including bigger fines, which allow councils to recover the full clean-up and disposal costs.”
