A direct rail link between Liverpool and North Wales should be re-established, according to Darren Millar.
The Clwyd West AM challenged the Welsh Transport Minister to look at the proposal during a Senedd debate this week.
North Wales has not enjoyed a direct rail link with Liverpool since the 1970s.
Darren Millar said:
“North Wales could benefit a great deal from a direct rail service between Llandudno to Liverpool. The city is an important commercial centre and improving transport links would provide a huge boost to North Wales in terms of access to jobs and promoting tourism.
“I’m disappointed that the Welsh Government made no reference to transport links between North Wales and Liverpool in its National Transport Plan, it’s a missed opportunity for our economy.
“I’ll continue to press the Minister to look at this proposal.”
