Wales’ Social Justice Minister Carl Sargeant has thanked volunteers for giving up their time during the festive period to support some of the most vulnerable people in society.
Volunteers and voluntary organisations play a vital role, and without their support the Assembly Government would be unable to deliver many of its commitments to improve the quality of life for the people of Wales.
The Minister said:
“Christmas is a busy time for all of us. I am therefore amazed and delighted at the invaluable contribution that volunteers make across Wales during the festive period.
“Many charities and organisations provide services to help and support people of all ages throughout December. Such integral organisations would be unable to continue without volunteers.
“Dynamic, a Wrexham based charity provides out of school activities for children and young people with special needs. Throughout December Dynamic has organised Christmas parties every night of the week, providing a festive environment in which children with special needs can celebrate Christmas safely.
“Without its volunteers Dynamic could not continue, I therefore thank the kind and generous individuals who give up their free time to support others.
“Volunteering offer important benefits for volunteers as well. Volunteering is as good for the volunteer in terms of what it brings; new skills, new friends, and valuable experiences; as it is for the people and organisations who receive their help.”
