At their meeting on 22nd November, Monmouthshire County Council agreed to pass its Local Development (LDP) to the Assembly and Planning Inspectorate for approval.
Cllr Bob Greenland, Monmouthshire County Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said:
“I’m delighted that the plan is now to be submitted to the Inspector. It’s quite rightly taken a long time to reach this point – we’ve carried out extensive consultation and thoroughly tested the viability of all the sites earmarked for development.”
He added:
“I’m particularly pleased that we will have more affordable houses amongst the 4000 new homes planned to be built in Monmouthshire over the lifetime of the plan than in any previous plan. There is clear evidence throughout the county that affordable homes are desperately needed. This plan is both radical and necessary, particularly as for the time being wages in Monmouthshire remain amongst Wales’ lowest, whilst property prices remain amongst its highest.”
