Monmouthshire County Elects new Chairman and Vice Chairman

Monmouthshire County Council has elected its new Chairman and Vice Chairman for the year 2010-11.

The Annual Meeting of the Council took place on Tuesday 11th May and elected Councillor Peter Clarke as Chairman and Councillor Brian Hood as Vice Chairman. Councillor Peter Clarke represents the Llangybi Fawr Ward and has served on Monmouthshire County Council since its formation in 1996. Prior to this, he spent seven years as a Gwent County councillor. Councillor Hood represents the Llanover Ward and has also served on Monmouthshire County Council since its formation. Prior to this, he was a Monmouth Borough Councillor.

Councillor Clarke said:

“I am very proud to have been elected as Monmouthshire County Council’s Chairman. I intend to use my year as Monmouthshire’s First Citizen to raise the profile of our beautiful county. Monmouthshire is the Jewel in Wales’ crown – and I want to make sure that everyone knows it! ”

Councillor Clarke’s chosen charity is Help for Heroes.
