Montgomeryshire MP Calls on Montgomeryshire People to Stand United Against Wind Farm Destruction

Glyn Davies, Montgomeryshire’s Conservative MP is calling on Montgomeryshire people to stand together against the onshore wind industry after National Grid brings down its ‘guillotine’ on one Montgomeryshire valley later this month. Later in May, in an act of grotesque vandalism, National Grid is expected to announce whether it has decided to wreck the Severn Valley or the Vyrnwy Valley. In preparation for this terrible announcement, this dreadful international bully business has booked several community venues across Montgomeryshire to explain the rationale behind its decision, and will cancel those which are to escape desecration.

Commenting on the approaching announcement, Glyn Davies said

“National Grid is preparing to pass sentence on one of the UK’s most beautiful valleys in a few days time, in an act of the most grotesque vandalism ever visited upon mid Wales. National Grid will tell us where they want to build their environment-destroying 20 acre sub-station and associated 100 miles of power cables. We will discover whether National Grid has decided to destroy the Upper Severn Valley or the Vyrnwy Valley, both of which are amongst the most special of areas of landscape beauty. I just do not know how these people can sleep at night, knowing how many people’s lives they are intent on destroying.

“The secrecy behind National Grid’s preparation for this terrible announcement is what you might expect of a monolithic giant with no understanding of democracy whatsoever. National Grid has delayed its announcement until after Council elections to avoid it being an election issue.  And now it has booked public halls across the region to explain the rationale behind its decision – with the intention of cancelling those meetings in areas not directly affected. The people of Mid Wales feel like a group of 10 prisoners being marched out to face a firing squad with only 5 bullets.

“More and more MPs are turning against onshore wind farms, understanding the destruction this useless technology creates, at the same time as it transfers money from the poor to the rich – a sort of Robin Hood in reverse.  MPs are also beginning to realise the damage onshore wind is doing to British business, hitting competitiveness and jobs. Even after National Grid’s announcement, the people of Mid Wales must continue to stand together against National Grid and the monstrous energy companies, made fat on public subsidy. The fight will go on.”
