Montgomeryshire MP Supports Parliament’s Film the House Competition

Glyn Davies MPGlyn Davies, Conservative MP for Montgomeryshire, has joined fellow MPs in supporting Parliament’s 2014 ‘Film the House’ competition, which encourages amateur film makers to submit their films from a number of genres.

The competition, founded by Mike Weatherley MP in 2012, was originally set up to raise the profile of the importance of copyright to film makers, of film itself and the creative industries in general among Parliamentarians and the UK Government. The competition celebrates the best up-and-coming amateur film producers, directors and script-writers.

Amateur film makers from across the country are encouraged to submit their films from a number of genre categories, which include:

  • Drama/Thriller/Action
  • Comedy
  • Music Video
  • Documentary

(All entrants for these categories must be over 18).

There is also a category for Under 18s. Those who submit entries in this category must have parental consent.

Prizes for the competition include:

  • Your film to be screened at the finals party in July at the House of Commons to and audience of industry experts and politicians
  • Work experience at Lionsgate
  • A private screening of your film in a Paramount theatre
  • Work Experience in the documentary department of ITN
  • Premier tickets to a Lionsgate films
  • Work experience at OP Film and Media
  • Six-month cinema passes for you and a friend courtesy of Odeon Cinemas

Speaking about the Film the House competition, Glyn Davies MP said:

“Film the House is an innovative competition that allows amateur film makers to submit their work and gain recognition for their efforts, as well as the chance to further their skills through the fantastic opportunities which are on offer.

“The competition has already received a number of entries from Montgomeryshire, and I am looking to seeing more results of what aspiring film makers from across the constituency have to offer.”
