More Gwent officers on the beat

Eleven officers will be formally welcomed into the force on Friday 19th February in an official Passing out Parade.

The ceremony is only the second of its kind in Gwent and will see the new recruits graduate from their training, march out and be inspected by the Chief Constable.

The officers will work in various roles and locations across the force.

Chief Constable Mick Giannasi said,

“These officers join the eleven others who were welcomed into the force in the first ever Gwent Police Passing Out Parade in December last year. The event signifies the end of initial training and the start of their policing career.

In addition to these new officers and the transferees from other UK forces that have joined us in recent months we also intend to recruit a further 150 officers in the coming year, further increasing the number of frontline officers serving our communities.”

The eleven officers who have their passing out parade on Friday 19th February will continue to be assessed through their two year probationary period, during which time they must achieve a Level 3 Diploma qualification in Basic Policing.
